Overview

Founded by brothers Geoff and George Hazelrigg, Hazelrigg Industries brings a unique artist-centric approach to designing studio equipment. Their debut offering, the VLC, is a versatile All-Tube Preamp and EQ combo that combines the legendary D.W. Fearn preamp design with modern functionality, delivering exceptional sonic transparency and headroom for a wide range of sources.

Enlisting our component level modeling technology in concert with the team at Hazelrigg Industries, we were able to debut the world-class sonics of the VLC to the digital world.

Hazelrigg VLC

  1. Gain Knob - Controls the gain between the second and third amplification stages of the VLC. It should be adjusted to provide the desired output level.
  2. Input Switch - Toggles between the Mic, Line and Inst inputs by turning the knob or clicking on the labels.
  3. -20 Pad Switch - Reduces the input signal by -20dB.
  4. Pol Switch - Flips the phase of the output signal.
  5. EQ In Switch - Engages or disengages the EQ.
  6. Output Signal Indicator - Displays output directly from the secondary of the output transformer module. The indicator will show green, but will show red if the signal is nearing the upper input level.
  7. Low/High Boost and Cut Knobs - The VLC contains a passive-style equalizer. The boost circuit employs an inductor in conjunction with a capacitor to achieve the desired boost frequencies. The boost and cut pots adjust the levels of equalization.
  8. Frequency Select Switches - The frequencies for each boost and cut can be selected independently. In the upper position the frequency selection is harmonically higher; in the lower position the selection is harmonically lower.
  9. Bypass Switch - Engages or disengages the Hazelrigg VLC unit only. This will not affect the Input/Output volumes or filters. The full plugin can be bypassed or enabled via the plugin toolbar in your DAW.
