The following provides common troubleshooting steps to resolve potential issues when using MixWave plugins in Reaper.

Plugin Not Showing In Reaper

If you have installed your MixWave plugin and it is not showing in Reaper, it has been reported that completing one or more of the following may resolve the issue.

Rescan Plugins

  1. Open Reaper Preferences by navigating to Options > Preferences (or pressing Ctrl + P / Cmd + ,).

  2. Go to Plug-ins > VST in the Preferences menu.
  3. Click the Re-scan... button to initiate a plugin rescan.
  4. Hover your cursor over the 'Plug-ins that failed to scan' section and locate the MixWave plugin.
  5. Select the plugin, and Reaper will attempt to re-scan it.
  6. Confirm that the VST3 version of the MixWave plugin is added to the appropriate directory in Reaper.

Reset Plugin Cache Settings

  1. In Reaper, go to Options > Preferences (or press Ctrl + P / Cmd + ,).
  2. In the Preferences window, select Plug-ins > VST from the menu on the left.
  3. Click the Clear cache/re-scan button to reset the plugin cache. This will clear stored plugin information and rescan the VST directories for updated data.
  4. After the cache is cleared, Reaper will automatically rescan the plugins in the specified directories. Confirm that your plugins appear in the plugin list and load correctly.

Reinstall Plugins

  1. Close Reaper - Ensure Reaper is fully closed before proceeding.

  2. Uninstall the MixWave Plugin - Remove the MixWave plugin from your system to clear any corrupted files.

  3. Open Reaper - Launch Reaper without the plugin installed.

  4. Rescan Plugins by going to Preferences > Plug-ins > VST, and click Clear cache/re-scan to remove references to the uninstalled plugin.

  5. Close Reaper Again

  6. Reinstall the MixWave Plugin, ensuring it’s placed in the correct VST directory.

  7. Launch Reaper after the plugin installation is complete.

  8. Rescan Plugins with the MixWave Plugin Installed by navigating to Preferences > Plug-ins > VST to detect and integrate the reinstalled MixWave plugin.

Remove Plugin From Reaper Blacklist

This issue may occur if the plugin has been "blacklisted" due to failing to scan properly.

  1. Open Reaper.
  2. Navigate to Options in the top menu and select Show REAPER resource path in explorer/finder...
  3. In the folder that opens, find the following files:
      • reaper-auplugins64-bc.ini
      • reaper-auplugins64.ini
      • reaper-vstplugins64.ini
  4. Open each file in a text editor and search for the line containing the name of the plugin that is not appearing.
  5. Delete the entire line referencing the plugin from the files and save the files.
  6. Close and reopen Reaper.
  7. Navigate to Options > Preferences > VST.
  8. Click "Clear cache/re-scan" to rescan for plugins.
