Plugin Not Showing In Logic Pro

In the event you encounter validation issues within Logic Pro X's Plugin Manager, the following should resolve any validation or functionality issues with MixWave plugins in Logic Pro X.

1

Open Logic Pro X and navigate to Logic Pro X > Settings > Plugin Manager in the menu.

2

In the Plugin Manager, locate MixWave from the list of developers.

3

Find the MixWave plugin in the list of plugins and perform the following actions:

  • Click the validation checkmark next to the MixWave plugin.

  • Select "Reset and Rescan Plugins".

4

After the rescan, click "Full Audio Unit Reset" for a complete reset of the plugin.

Logic Pro Crashes When Using Plugin

In the event Logic Pro is crashing when a plugin is used within the project file, it may be due to a CPU usage limit. The following have been known to resolve the issue.

Increase I/O Buffer Size

1

Open Logic Pro and navigate to Logic Pro > Settings (Preferences) > Audio.

2

In the Devices tab, locate the I/O Buffer Size setting.

3

Increase the buffer size (e.g., from 128 to 256 or 512 samples).

A higher buffer size reduces CPU load but increases latency.

Adjust CPU Core Usage

1

Go to Logic Pro > Settings (Preferences) > Audio > Devices.

2

Look for the Processing Threads setting.

3

Choose Automatic to let Logic Pro dynamically allocate CPU cores. Alternatively, manually select the maximum available threads if you want to ensure all cores are utilized.

Customize Plugin Short Names in Logic Pro

If a plugin name is too long and gets truncated in Logic Pro’s insert slots, you can assign a custom Short Name that will be displayed instead. This can make your mixer easier to read and speed up your workflow.

This only changes how the plugin appears in Logic Pro. It does not rename the plugin itself or affect presets, projects, or compatibility.

1

Open Logic Pro > Settings > Plug-in Manager.

2

Locate the plugin you’d like to rename (you can use the search field).

3

Double-click the Short Name column for that plugin.

4

Enter your desired short name (Apple recommends 7 characters or fewer for narrow channel strips, or up to 9 characters for wide channel strips).

5

Press Return, then click Done.

Your custom short name will now appear in Logic Pro’s insert slots instead of the full plugin name, making long plugin names much easier to identify at a glance.
